Election Commission of Odisha

 
Odisha became an independent state in 1936 after it got separated during the British rule. According to the 73rd and 74th Amendment of Constitution of India, it was decided that a separate Election Commission must be present in each state to carry out the election process smoothly. The Governor of the state appoints the Chief Electoral Officer. The secretary of Electoral officer is also appointed to manage the tasks.

The present Chief electoral officer of Odisha is Dr. Mona Sharma. She is an IAS officer of the 1989 batch and was also the commission cum secretary to the government.
