Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)
The Bharatiya Janta Party came to governance in the 1993 Delhi Legislative Assembly. Madan Lal Khurana, candidate of the Bharatiya Janta Party then became the Chief Minister of Delhi. Madan Lal Khurana laid emphasis on matters related to empowerment, infrastructure development and education. The BJP has addressed several of the daily concerns of the people of Delhi as a long standing opposition party in the state. The BJP party also gave way to programmes such as “Senior Citizen Programme”, “Mashal and Candle Light March against Electricity Tariff Hike”, “Minority Morcha”, “Youth for Change” and similar awareness programmes in the state of Delhi. The Bharatiya Janta Party is reaching out to the youth in various colleges and universities in the State to involve them in the ideology and working structure of the Bharatiya Janta Party.
Campaigning strongly for the upcoming elections in the State of Delhi to be held on 4th December, Narendra Modi held a massive rally in Delhi in the month of September. This rally which was called the ‘BJP Karyakarta Sammelan’ witnessed Narendra Modi criticizing Sheila Dikshit-led Indian National Congress led Government in Delhi on increasing electricity and water bills, corruption, poor health facilities, price rise, lawless violence in the state, and women being unsafe.
