About the Bharatiya Janata Party

Bharatiya Janta Party is one of the major political parties of India. BJP strongly believes in Hindu ideologies and is an active member of Sangh Parivar. Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L K Advani were the two leaders under whose leadership party was formed in 1980. Both these leaders were part of BJS which was the wing of RSS. BJS was against the Appeasement policy for Muslims that was followed by Congress. BJS revolted against the issues under the cover of RSS but things changed when the founder of BJS died. Then after the end of the Emergency rule, BJS formed a coalition government and called it as Janta Party. Government was formed under the leadership of Moraji Desai after the party won the election with flying colors. Later the party was destroyed due to internal fragmentation. The left out leaders at the core formed the Bharatiya Janta party and Atal Bihari Vajpayee was made the President of the Party. After that BJP came to power in late 80s by forming a coalition government called as National Democratic Party (NDA). Now the party has emerged as a strong opposition with many prominent leaders like Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitely, Narendra Modi, etc. Now the party is gearing up to face the General Election under the leadership of Narendra Modi.

Party Symbol

From the beginning, BJP has been having the symbol of Lotus. Lotus is the national flower of India and represents the cultural heritage of the country. It believes that Congress does not have any secular ideology and BJP supporting Hindutva does not mean that it is trying to spread the religion throughout the nation or even divide the nation in the name of religion. On the contrary, BJP believes that it wants to build a nation united on the terms of religion and other differences and living in harmony with each other. It believes to create a democratic nation which gives equal rights to all the individuals irrespective of his caste, culture, religion, economic status, sex, etc. It has even undertaken the task of spreading cultural values at schools and colleges to maintain our tradition and heritage for the future generations.
