The General elections in the country will be carried out in nine phases. The election process in Assam will be carried out in 3 phases. Elections will be conducted on 7th April, 12th April and 24th April. The counting of votes will be done on 16th, May 2014.

Assam Elections
Assam is one of the important states of North – East India. Many of the other north eastern states were formed after dividing Assam. A State election Commission has been set up there so as to take care of and supervise all the election process within the state. There are 126 constituencies in Assam. Congress party is a strong contender there as it has won elections thrice in a row.

Assam Legislative Assembly
Assam has a unicameral type of legislative Assembly and has Legislative Assembly with 126 members. The term of the House is five years and elections are held to elect new members when the term expires. The whole process of election is managed by State Election Commission of Assam.
