Ministers of India
The head of the Union government of India is Prime Minister. The executive powers lies in the hands of the Prime Minister while constitutional powers are with the President of India. In India there is Westminister form of democracy, so the prime minister is responsible for the governance of the country.
The day to day administration of the country is done by the prime minister. His council of minister like cabinet ministers, ministers of state with independent charges, deputy ministers and ministers of state working with cabinet help him in the governance process.
The Prime minister has many duties to perform and and immense power too. He forms the council of ministers by choosing people from his party and assigns different ministries to them. The council that PM forms is called cabinet. He presides over all the important meetings of the cabinet. The ministers are removed if their performance is not found up to the mark.
PM is responsible for making schemes and plans for the country and looking after the defense related issue of the country. He need to attend the judicial appointments, appointments of the State Administrative Tribunals, Election Commission, Central Administrative Tribunal and UPSCs. Apart from this, there are certain departments that are solely taken care by PM such as Department of Atomic Energy, Department of Space, Ministry of Planning, Ministry of Personal and Public Grievances and Pensions.
There are three kinds of ministers in the council of ministers such as cabinet ministers, ministers of state with independent charges and ministers of state working with cabinet ministers.
Cabinet is the council of ministers that are responsible for managing the different ministries of the country. They are responsible for taking all the important decisions. Some of the prominent ministries are Defense , Industry, Finance, etc.
The main duties of the cabinet is to advice the council of ministers and attend all the cabinet ministers that is called either by the prime minister or any other cabinet minister to discuss on an issue. They are responsible to the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha for all the schemes and policies.
After the cabinet ministers, comes the ministers of the state with independent charges. They are the part of council of ministers but not as important as cabinet ministers. After that comes the ministers of the state working with cabinet ministers. They work under the cabinet ministers and assist them to manage certain portfolios.
