Kamthi Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

A city in Nagpur district of Maharashtra, Kamthi was founded in the year 1821. The name of the city was Camp-T earlier due to the geographical shape it has. As of 2011 India census, the city had a total population of 238,870 people. The Kamthi assembly constituency is a part of parliamentary constituency of Ramtek. Chandrashekhar Krishnarao Bawankule, candidate of BJP was victorious in the 2009 assembly elections for a consecutive second time and is the current MLA. He gained victory over Gawande Sunita Ramesh, candidate of INC. Bawankule received 95080 votes compared to Ramesh who recieved 63987 votes.
