Katol Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

A city in the Nagpur district of Maharashtra, Katol is also the headquarters of the Katol taluka. The city was earlier named and known as Kuntalapur. As of 2011 India census, the city had a total population of 163,808. The Katol assembly constituency belongs to the parliamentary constituency of Ramtek. The seat of MLA has been occupied by NCP since the year 1999. Anil Vasantrao Deshmukh, candidate of NCP was victorious in the 2009 assembly elections for the 4th consecutive time and is the current MLA. He was victorious over Charansing Babulalji Thakur, candidate of RPI (A) with a distinctive margin. Deshmukh received 68143 votes against Thakur who received 35940 votes.
