Mehkar Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

A city in the Buldana district of Maharashtra, Mehkar was earlier called as ‘Meghankar Nagari. As of 2011 India census, Mehkar had a total population of 268,316. The Mehkar assembly constituency belongs to the parliamentary constituency of Buldhana. The constituency is particularly reserved for the members of Scheduled Castes. The seat of MLA has been occupied by the SHS since the year 1995. Jadhav Pratap Ganpatrao, candidate of SHS won the assembly elections of 1995, 1999 and 2004 consecutively. Dr. Sanjay Bhaskar Raimulkar, candidate of SHS was victorious in the 2009 assembly elections and is the current MLA. He gained victory over Adv. Sahebrao Ashruji Sardar, candidate of NCP with a distinctive margin. Raimulkar received 91475 votes compared to Sardar, who received 58380 votes.
