Madhya Pradesh has a unicameral Legislature. The Vidhan sabha seat of Madhya Pradesh is located in Bhopal. The last assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh was held in the year 2013. 230 candidates had filed nominations for 51 districts of the state.
There are a total of 230 constituencies in Madhya Pradesh. Out of that 35 seats are reserved for scheduled castes and 47 seats are reserved for scheduled tribes. Later the number of constituencies were raised to 320. In the year 2000, the number of constituencies were reduced to 230 as Chhattisgarh was formed from Madhya Pradesh.
In the general category, the largest number of voters (189,220,000) are in the Bhopal Uttar constituency and least (123,399) are in Kotma constituency.
Lakhnadon constituency has the largest number of voters (207,719) while Sailana has the least number of voters (125,917) under the ST category.
Under the SC category, Jabalpur Purba has the largest number of voters (194,112) and Bina has the least number (129,814).
