A small town of Hatia is situated in the Ranchi district of Jahrkhand. The assembly constituency of Hatia belongs to parliamentary constituency of Ranchi. The seat of MLA which was occupied by INC was acquired by AJSUP (All India Jharkhand Student Union Party) in by-eelctions of 2012. N. Jaiswal, candidate of AJSUP won the 2012 by-elections and is the current MLA. He was vitorious over A.N. Shahdeo of JVM (Jharkhand Vikas Morcha) by a huge margin. Jaiswal received 41566 votes over Shahdeo’s 29682 votes. Hatia is one of the most well-maintained regions,which is away from the hustle bustle of the city life. The famous institue for metallurgical engineering, National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology is located here.
