Kalakote Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

The tehsil of Kalakote is situated in the Rajauri district of Jammu & Kashmir. The Kalakote assembly constituency belongs to parliamentary constituency of Jammu. Rachhpal Singh, candidate of JKNC won the assembly elections of 2008 for the 2nd consecutive time. Though he worked for the development of the constituency, people were not satisfied with him. So they might opt for a change in the assembly elections to come. Singh won the assembly elections of 2008 by besting Ashok Kumar Sharma who is an independent candidate. Singh received 25314 votes over Sharma’s 13894 votes.
