Jammu West Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency
The region of Jammu West is a part of parliamentary constituency of Jammu. The President Jammu West Assembly Movement Sunil Dimple recently demanded district status for the constituency. He said that the region is neglected in terms of law and order, employment and development. Dimple urged the youth for support in his protest. He said that he will stand in the upcoming assembly elections if people wish. Prof Chaman Lal Gupta, candidate of BJP won the assembly elections of 2008. He was victorious over Surinder Singh Shangari, an independent candidate. Gupta received 34288 votes over Shangari’s 21251 votes.
